Access to higher education plays a crucial role in expanding economic and social opportunities for individuals and communities. In recognition of the importance of equitable access to education, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) supports students from low-income households through the Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (KIP Kuliah) Program. KIP Kuliah is a government-funded financial assistance program designed to support high school and vocational high school graduates, or their equivalents, from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing higher education.
The KIP Kuliah Program has been implemented at UNDIP since 2020 as part of the university’s commitment to promoting inclusive and equitable access to higher education. Prospective recipients undergo a selection and verification process to assess their eligibility, particularly based on their household economic circumstances. Through this program, UNDIP provides eligible students with greater opportunities to enroll in and complete higher education, thereby contributing to the reduction of economic barriers to educational attainment.

In the 2024/2025 academic year, UNDIP had 63,905 enrolled students. recipients of KIP Kuliah at UNDIP had reached 6,061 students in 2024. This figure demonstrates that the KIP Kuliah Program is one of UNDIP’s initiatives to extent access to higher education for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. UNDIP also conducts monitoring and evaluation on recipients of KIP Kuliah to encourage students to use the assistance responsibly, develop their achievements, and complete their studies on time.
To support the program of KIP Kuliah, UNDIP, together with the Keluarga Mahasiswa Bidikmisi/KIP Kuliah (KAMADIKSI), held a Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) and KIP Kuliah Motivation Seminar on September 17, 2024. The event was attended by approximately 750 KIP Kuliah recipients and featured speakers from the Center for Educational Funding Services (Puslapdik) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) as well as KIP Kuliah alumni who have become UNDIP lecturers. The activity encouraged students to recognize their potential, develop their achievements, actively participate in academic and non-academic activities, and complete their education on time.

The success of the program is also reflected in the number of graduates being received Bidikmisi/KIP Kuliah scholarships. At the 180th UNDIP Graduation Ceremony in 2025, 289 of Bidikmisi/KIP Kuliah scholarship recipients successfully completed their studies and were among the 3,341 graduates during that period. This data reflecting on the support for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds is both focusing on providing access to higher education and supporting their continued education and successful completion of their studies.
