Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) provides financial support for international students through various scholarship schemes. One of the main programs is the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship, a scholarship program provided by the Government of Indonesia that offers students from developing countries the opportunity to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Indonesia. In 2025, UNDIP received KNB students from various countries, including Zimbabwe, Thailand, Uganda, India, Afghanistan, Kiribati, and Tanzania, who enrolled in various study programs at UNDIP. An official UNDIP publication documented seven KNB recipients, including Siloh Kasawala from Zimbabwe at the Bachelor’s level, Arbit Tuengah from Thailand and Huzairu Kanamwangi from Uganda at the Master’s level, and Buruhan Haji Shame from Tanzania at the Doctoral level.
In addition to the KNB Scholarship, UNDIP provides the Diponegoro Global Scholarship for international students pursuing English-taught Master’s programs. The scholarship covers tuition fee waivers, an arrival allowance of up to IDR 5,000,000, a return allowance of up to IDR 5,000,000, a settlement allowance of IDR 2,000,000, a living allowance of IDR 3,750,000 per month, a research allowance of IDR 2,000,000, health insurance, and a graduation fee of IDR 300,000. This scheme directly supports the educational and living expenses of international students during their studies at UNDIP.
UNDIP is also one of the higher education institutions that accepts participants of the Darmasiswa Program, a one-year Indonesian government scholarship program for international students to study the Indonesian language, arts, and culture. The program is open to international students from countries that have diplomatic relations with Indonesia and is conducted through collaboration between the Indonesian government and designated higher education institutions.
Regarding funding for postgraduate students through research involvement, the UNDIP Strategic Plan (Renstra) 2025–2029 includes the development of a research assistant program for international Master’s and Doctoral students as part of efforts to strengthen international postgraduate education based on research assistantships. The document positions this program as part of UNDIP’s strategy to strengthen its reputation, partnerships, and global connectivity.
