Sustainable Food Choices on Campus
Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) presents the concept of “Healthy and Affordable Canteens” for its students and staff, which is implemented in each faculty. These canteens serve nutritious food choices and vegetarian menus at very affordable prices ranging from Rp 5,000 to Rp 30,000, thus supporting healthy eating patterns even amidst the busy campus activities. They offer a variety of dishes such as pecel, gado-gado, oseng tempeh, as well as contemporary snacks such as siomay and dim sum that are still rich in vegetables or plant/animal protein. Cleanliness, comfort, and waste management also receive special attention: good air circulation, adequate chairs and tables, separation of organic and inorganic waste, and supervision of food processing by the relevant faculty. With this model, UNDIP not only supports the welfare of the campus community but also aligns with the SDGs, especially Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
