Mental Health Support

Universitas Diponegoro organized a peer counselor training program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) in June 2024 as an active promotion initiative to strengthen mental health support for students. This program was designed to equip UNDIP students with knowledge and skills in providing mental health support through a peer counseling approach. The training covered essential topics including basic counseling techniques, mental health issue recognition, stress management, and prevention of sexual violence. By training students as peer counselors, UNDIP created an accessible mental health support system where students can seek help from their peers in a comfortable and non-stigmatizing environment. This peer counseling initiative represents UNDIP’s commitment to actively promoting good mental health among students through a sustainable support mechanism. The program not only provides students with access to mental health support but also empowers them to become agents of change in creating a mentally healthy campus environment. This approach is particularly effective as peer support has proven to be more approachable for students experiencing mental health challenges.

Universitas Diponegoro provides a Student Consultation Department as an institutional commitment to offering free access to mental health support for all students. This service can be accessed through UNDIP’s official portal, which provides clear information on how to access various types of consultation, including mental health counseling. The Student Consultation Department offers professional counseling services that are easily accessible to students at no cost. The portal functions as effective signposting, making it easier for students to find and access the mental health support services they need. These services cover consultations related to academic, personal, social, and mental health issues.
