Noureddine Melikechi is a Professor of Physics and Dean of the Kennedy College of Sciences at the University of Massachusetts. Professor Melikechi is a member of two of the largest NASA missions to the planet Mars, Curiosity and Perseverance scheduled launched in July 2020.

Professor Melikechi graduated with a Diplôme d’Études Supérieures from the University Houari Boumediene, Algeria, and with an M.Sc. and D.Phil. from the University of Sussex, England.

Professor Melikechi is the recipients of numerous awards including two NASA group awards for science achievement (2013 and 2017), the Arfken Scholar-in-Residence, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, (2013), and the Academic Research Award of the Delaware Bioscience Association (2012). Professor Melikechi is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; Fellow of the American Physical Society; Fellow of the Optical Society of America; Fellow of the Scientific Research Honors Society, SigmaX.
